This page is devoted to putting the subject of astrology in the context of The Absolute, 'Alien's, Angels, Unity, Medium Page, 2012.

A BRIEF INTRODUCTION

Astrology is a colossal subject that can only be very lightly touched upon on a single web page.

So, this page just very lightly touches on this splendid subject.

Indeed, it could be said to be Mankind’s finest subject for study.

It is through Astrology that science emerged. It is, as you will see, a superb instrument that gives us clues into the Nature of All Things, or ‘God’. Hence there are many astrological clues in The Bible, notably the ‘Three Wise Men’ – the Magi – were Persian Astrologers, following the ‘Star of David’. One of the finest Astrologers living today, John Frawley, also points out that astrology is ultimately a means for revealing the Divine.

Finally, astrology has been practiced by some of the world’s greatest thinkers, notably Aristotle, Plato, Isaac Newton. Fine minds, of course, continue to be involved with it.

An excellent book that will give you as much of an introduction to Astrology that you will ever need is called The Fated Sky – Astrology in History by Benson Bobrick.

WHAT IS ASTROLOGY?

Astrology is simply the study of meaning of celestial bodies. That is, it’s used to connect what is up above us in the sky with our experiences down here on Earth.

It is through this that we begin to enjoy astrology’s main benefit, which is UNITY. That is, it demonstrates the direct non-causal link between the Universe and us and everything else.

At its lowest level it shows that we are at one with the Universe around us. But as you look into it further it helps unlock an insight into The Absolute, which is the Total Living Unity of all things and All Time, which many may called ‘God’.

As William Lilly (see picture on left), a remarkable astrologer from the 17^th century, says that astrology is ‘the heavenly knowledge of the stars, wherein the great and admirable works of the invisible and all-glorious God are so manifestly apparent’.

EVERYTHING IS DONE

Another fine lesson that astrology gives us is a simple message that is very close to my heart:

YOU DO NOT CREATE. CREATION HAPPENS TO YOU.

That is, our lives, our Existence and everything are ultimately out of our hands. Everything is done. Everything past, present and future exists now. And all things in Creation are part of the Whole.

Nothing is, nor ever will be out of place.

This lesson would be well learned by the people of the world today who believe they can get what they want, do what they want, have no sense of overall context, and thrive on greed and ego. These people are always at the root of the sadness and sorrow of mankind, and so would do well to reconsider their ways.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF ACCURATE ASTROLOGICAL PREDICTION

There is no form of prediction that is more accurate than astrological prediction – that is, when it’s done in the right hands.

A true practitioner of astrology should know this all too well, because such a person will have predicted events accurately with specific timing and details.

But it is not the ‘glory’ of the prediction that touches the true astrologer.

It is the SIGNIFICANCE of the fact that things can be predicted.

It is the fact that if something is meant to be, as shown by an astrological chart, it cannot be changed.

It will be what it is.

You cannot reach out and change the positions of the planets. They will go where they go, and their meaning is directly related to us here on Earth.

And thus Existence unfolds on Earth in a way that is completely out of our hands.

Accept this main lesson of astrology and you will begin to understand the Nature of Things. You will begin better to feel, flow with, understand the Nature of ‘God’.

And so, you will begin to know yourself in your fullest and most wonderful state.

Of course, such a lesson is not easy to grasp, especially after Man has for centuries deluded himself into thinking that his will is king. But I assure you, you will learn this lesson one day, perhaps not through astrology, but learn it you will. And perhaps not too soon.

And then you will see that you can play a part, but that your lines are already written.

Having said that, since you are TRULY at One (ie your real true self is Absolute Unity), you ‘wrote’ the lines Yourself.

Begin to know this and you will see the Whole and how good it is, and that knowing it does not preclude a fruitful, fulfilled and happy life.

HOROSCOPES

You will no doubt be aware of my ‘STARS AND CARDS’. And, frankly, I hope you thoroughly enjoy them and that they give you inspiration and something to think about.

But notice that I do not call these ‘astrology videos’. Of course, they are linked to astrology, because I mention the motion of planets in relation to our lives. But astrology videos they are not. Indeed, they include glances at Tarot cards. So, they are, as I said, just ‘STARS AND CARDS’.

Some may call them ‘horoscopes’. That’s because the popular press often have ‘horoscopes’ in them. This word ‘horoscope’ simply means ‘map’ (scope) of the ‘hour’ (horo). That is, map of the hour in terms of the planets and bodies at a particular moment.

So, it’s a bit of misnomer really, because what horoscopes in the popular sense do is give a vague and general breakdown for what people born under particular ‘star signs’ are doing and will do.

And that’s what I do when I refer to planets in the ‘STARS AND CARDS’ videos. But there can be nothing specifically accurate in the astrological sense here, because true astrology demands great precision. For any individual to have a true insight into his or her life, a great deal of time is spent pouring over that individual’s natal chart. And that natal chart depends on accurate time, date and place of birth.

First of all, NO general horoscopes - not one – not even those written by ‘celebrity’ ‘astrologers’, have any more than a grain of true astrological accuracy in them. Indeed, they are part of the reason why true astrology is looked upon as a bit of a joke. For no right-minded person can possibly expect accurate readings delivered in the form of 'horoscopes' or star sign ‘astrology’.

But I do not do these videos for any great precision. They are there to be enjoyed, to inspire, in some way rather like a poem or a song inspires. And, yes, there are some general astrological gems that will at times hit the mark, and thus add precision.

But overall you will get your meaning from them because you are listening to me with an intention of finding some insight.

And so you will get this insight, not least because it is my genuine intention to give you something that helps you.

MODERN ASTROLOGY

It is generally accepted that someone called Alan Leo invented Modern Astrology. He was involved with the Theosophists, and he developed a form of very quick fix astrology, which heralded the coming of the vague and general ‘star sign’ astrology that most of you will know about.

Unfortunately, much of this astrology was, and still is in many areas, very ‘make it up as you go’. That is, much of it is not based in any firm principles, and because of its vagueness, it tends to have many excuses for why it cannot be proved to work.

But some very good study has been made in this area of astrology, which many people find helpful and illuminating. Much of this is based in the ideas of the psychologist, Carl Jung, and has been developed notably by Liz Greene, a gentle man named, Howard Sasportas, and others.

This sort of ‘psychological’ astrology is helpful if you are going through a tough time and you want a way to identify the roots of the problem.

For instance, you may find you are going through a period when you feel low or heavy, and an astrologer might find that Saturn is in a position in the sky that is ‘sitting quite horribly on your Natal Sun’.

That is, in the sky at that time Saturn will be in a position that strongly afflicts the position of the Sun in the sky at your birth – it might be, for instance, 90 degrees from it (square aspect). With this knowledge the astrologer may help you understand the situation, and will give you a period of time in which the challenge will be at its most intense. Such insights can help you know yourself a little more, and thus put the problem into perspective.

They can also, if you think about it correctly, help you experience your connection with the Cosmos, which can induce some sense of Unity.

Because this form of astrology is based very much on you ‘helping’ yourself, which is of course very good, it can, however, fall short in a vital way.

That is, it can encourage the dangerous idea that we are masters of our destiny; that if we are crafty enough we can avoid the horrors or indeed the good things that life delivers for us. In other words it encourages the great hubris that we can do just as we wish.

Thus, we can be taken a step away from what is the true purpose of astrology, which is to help us towards an understanding of Everything, of the greatest happiness, of the greatest Unity – ‘God’.

TRADITIONAL (REAL ASTROLOGY) ASTROLOGY

With the world rising to higher levels of awareness and consciousness, it is no surprise that Traditional Astrology is gaining enormous ground in popularity. 

I say this because levels of awareness and consciousness are only increased at the same time as levels of unity are increased.  Traditional astrology demands great discipline, respects the limits of humankind (i.e. what is written will happen - no more, no less) and is thus firmly grounded in this world.  The Heavens therefore 'come to this world', and unity prevails. 

Also, Traditional Astrology brings the past alive, brings it to the present.  And so, we are joined with our astrological roots, and the forefathers of astrology are therefore with us.  Thus again, unity prevails.

Weaker, less grounded forms of astrology tend to do the opposite to this.  Hence I say that I am not surprised that Traditional Astrology is gaining ground.

Much of this renaissance is down to the extraordinary efforts of John Frawley. He has almost single-handedly managed to bring this form of astrology – aptly called Real Astrology - back into the limelight, back into modern day thinking.

John Frawley has achieved this with great humour, modesty and power. He proves time and time again, with accurate predictions of anything from football match results, to deaths, to the moments when lovers meet. More important that this, he can teach this subject, but he does so, as he does with all of his work, with an overall respect for the spiritual context of astrology – of Everything. He is aware of the Absolute Unity of all, which is ‘God’.

Traditional Astrology relies on the tried and tested methods that have evolved over thousands of years, used by men such as Plato and Aristotle, not just of prediction but also of analysis of situations, the psychology of situations.

One of its branches, Horary Astrology, is extraordinarily accurate for prediction; for finding things (yes it can help you with considerable success find lost objects); for identifying your strengths and weaknesses and so on.

And all you need to do for accurate results is select an astrologer who has trained with a quality Horary teacher, such as John Frawley, ask a question and that astrologer will set a chart for the moment he or she understands the question. No birth details are required, and yet many specifics can be revealed.

Traditional Natal Astrology, which needs accurate time, date and place of birth, can be used to predict all the major events in your life – and probably all minor events if there were world enough and time.

Yes, that means what is in the chart to be done will be done. That which is not in the chart will not be done. So, no, not all of us can be famous, not all of us can be rich, not all of us can get the girls, but we will all do what is ‘written’ for us to do. And, armed with this insight, we can gain ground on our true purpose, which, believe it or not, leads to our greatest joy.
